BJ Haisten
Principal
BJ leads Freestone Construction’s operations and project delivery strategy, bringing more than a decade of experience managing complex construction projects across commercial, multifamily, and industrial sectors.
His background includes senior roles at leading regional builders, where he managed large-scale projects with an emphasis on collaboration, cost control, and executional rigor. BJ is known for his hands-on leadership style and commitment to practical problem solving.
David Knight
Principal & Senior Advisor
David brings more than four decades of experience across real estate development and construction operations. At Freestone, he supports strategic oversight across integrated projects, ensuring alignment between development goals and construction execution.
David’s experience includes leading development teams, overseeing large construction portfolios, and guiding projects through complex entitlement, financing, and delivery phases.
Tim Crumpler
Senior Superintendent
Tim brings more than 20 years of experience overseeing multifamily construction projects, with a reputation for collaborative leadership and consistent execution in the field. He works closely with architects, engineers, owners, and trade partners to maintain alignment, transparency, and momentum throughout the construction process.
Grounded in accountability and humility, Tim focuses on delivering high-quality projects that meet the design intent, performance expectations, and long-term goals of owners and equity partners alike.
Helen Marrin
Project Coordinator
Helen holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor of Architecture from North Carolina State University. She brings a strong design background paired with a highly organized, detail-oriented approach to project coordination.
Prior to joining Freestone, Helen worked as an architectural designer, supporting multifamily projects through documentation, cross-disciplinary coordination, and consultant collaboration. Thoughtful and practical, she is mindful of how design decisions impact cost, constructability, and overall project outcomes.
David Izlar
Partner
David brings experience across development, construction oversight, and financial planning. At Freestone, he supports strategic alignment across projects, helping ensure that execution, schedule, and budget remain closely connected from planning through delivery.
Prior to Freestone, David served as a Director at Sweetwater Holdings and began his career in project management at Taylor & Mathis, building a strong foundation in cost control, coordination, and quality execution.
Joe Knight
Partner
Joe brings entrepreneurial leadership and operational insight to Freestone’s construction platform, supporting business development and project execution. His background spans real estate, operations, and company-building, with a focus on scalable systems and strong teams.
Before co-founding Freestone, Joe built Tanalta and co-founded Go Doorstep, which grew to serve thousands of multifamily communities before its successful sale in 2020.
